Shocked passenger snaps airport worker using tape on plane engine just moments before take-of

A shocked passenger took this photo of an airport worker sticking tape onto the engine of an easyJet plane just moments before take off and shared it on Twitter on Friday May 29th. The twitter user @adtom posted it and wrote "Always worrying when easyJet are duct taping the plane together :-s #finaldestination"

But contrary to popular belief, it is not duct tape, the Daily Mail reports. The silver sticky strip is believed to be speed tape, widely used in the aviation industry to carry out quick repairs on flights so as to avoid delays.

EasyJet was quick to respond to the concerned passenger on Twitter, posting: "Hi Adam, Please be reassured that the duct tape is in place as a result of some cosmetic work that is required to the aircraft paintwork. It is nothing structural and in no way compromises the safety of the aircraft."

He took it in good humour, replying: "Phew because we've taken off and I forgot to pack my parachute lol"

Buhari Breaks Campaign Promise As Presidency Releases Official Portrait Of First Lady [LOOK]

Barely 24 hours after his inauguration as President and Commander-in-Chief of Nigeria, it appears President Muhammadu Buhari may have broken a campaign promise to scrap the office of the First Lady.

This is action came contrary to his campaign promise not to uphold the office of the first lady.
Below is the news item from last year where he made this campaign promise:
I won’t have office for first lady - Buhari
General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd)

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), retired General Muhammadu Buhari has said he will not have an office for First Lady should he emerge victorious at next year’s presidential election. The [office of] First Lady is not in the constitution, so there’s no official role for them,” he said.
In an interview he granted in Kaduna, General Buhari added that ministries, which are constitutional, should be allowed to play their own roles. “There is the Ministry of Women Affairs, and so on,” he said.
However, Buhari said, women are going to play very important roles in his administration. “I was raised by my mother, as I lost my father when I was under six, so I know what a woman can do if given the chance,” he said, adding that he sees them as his cornerstone.
General Buhari also spoke about the situation in Chibok, Borno State where over 200 schoolgirls were abducted by terrorist group Boko Haram and remain in captivity. “Imagine a mother with a teenage daughter there and for seven months has no clue where she is,” he said, adding that women have to look after a child for at least six years, making the pain of losing a child great.
“Roughly one year in their tummy and from the time they are born until they clock six, children tend to assume they know everything, but it is women, their mothers, who are responsible for them,” he said. “I have the greatest respect for women, he said.
The full interview, in which he spoke on various issues, will be published tomorrow in the Weekly Trust.

Photos from Nasir El-Rufai's Inauguration as Kaduna State Governor Even as the Inauguration Ended Abruptly After Youths Pelt Dignitaries with Sachet Water, Stones

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been sworn in as Governor of Kaduna state. In his speech, he said he and his deputy have agreed to cut their salary and allowances by 50%.
The inauguration of Gov. Nasir El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State however ended abruptly on Friday.
NAN reports that El-Rufai could not review the parade mounted by the police as some youths pelted dignitaries with water sachets, stones and other objects in the pavilion.
This prompted security agents to fire tear gas into the crowd at the Murtala Square, Kaduna.
NAN also reports that some dignitaries in the pavilion included the Emir of Zazzau, Dr Shehu Idris, and other traditional rulers in the State.
The incident occurred when the new governor had concluded his address and was about to mount an open van to review the parade mounted by the police.
While the crowds were dispersed by the police, dignitaries remained seated, but the occasion ended abruptly without the governor reviewing the parade.
NAN reports that the Murtala Square was filled to capacity.

China Executes Primary School Teacher Who Raped &Sexually Abused 26 Pupils

A primary school teacher who raped and sexually abused 26 of his pupils has been executed in China.

Li Jishun targeted "young and timid" girls aged 4 to 11 while teaching at a village school in Gansu province between 2011 and 2012.

A statement by the Supreme People's Court (SPC) said Li raped 21 of his victims and sexually abused the other five in classrooms, dormitories, and the forest surrounding the village near Wushan town, reports the BBC.

Some of Lishun's victims were raped more than once, though the statement did not explain how he was caught.

He was sentenced to death after the Gansu court decided he was a "grave threat to society".

It said: "The Supreme People's Court thus believes that it was appropriate for Li Jishun to be executed."

The story made headlines in local media in the country and the decision to execute him received widespread support on social media.

Users of microblogging site Weibo said they were shocked for the young victims.

One wrote: "Four years old? I can't believe it."

Another said: "A death sentence is too good for this man."

The SPC says child sex abuse cases are on the rise in China, with over 7,000 cases reported in recent years.

It told local media that the courts heard 7,145 cases of child sexual abuse between 2012 and 2014 - a 40 per cent rise over that period.

Read the Full Inaugural Speech By President Buhari, I Belong To Nobody, I Will End Boko Haram & Rescue Chibok Girls

President Muhammadu Buhari sent a strong signal across to the nation during his inaugural address at Eagle Square on Friday, saying he belongs to nobody. Buhari, who said Nigerians would not regret electing him as president, said he would not settle old scores.
“I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody,” he said.

“Nigerians will not regret that they havve entrusted national responsibility to us. I thank those who did not vote for us, but supported the system to ensure that our democracy is functional.”

Read the inaugural speech by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari following his swearing-in as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 29th May, 2015 below...

I am immensely grateful to God Who Has preserved us to witness this day and this occasion. Today marks a triumph for Nigeria and an occasion to celebrate her freedom and cherish her democracy. Nigerians have shown their commitment to democracy and are determined to entrench its culture. Our journey has not been easy but thanks to the determination of our people and strong support from friends abroad we have today a truly democratically elected government in place.

now5I would like to thank President Goodluck Jonathan for his display of statesmanship in setting a precedent for us that has now made our people proud to be Nigerians wherever they are. With the support and cooperation he has given to the transition process, he has made it possible for us to show the world that despite the perceived tension in the land we can be a united people capable of doing what is right for our nation. Together we co-operated to surprise the world that had come to expect only the worst from Nigeria. I hope this act of graciously accepting defeat by the outgoing President will become the standard of political conduct in the country.

I would like to thank the millions of our supporters who believed in us even when the cause seemed hopeless. I salute their resolve in waiting long hours in rain and hot sunshine to register and cast their votes and stay all night if necessary to protect and ensure their votes count and were counted. I thank those who tirelessly carried the campaign on the social media. At the same time, I thank our other countrymen and women who did not vote for us but contributed to make our democratic culture truly competitive, strong and definitive.

I thank all of you.

Having just a few minutes ago sworn on the Holy Book, I intend to keep my oath and serve as President to all Nigerians.

I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody.

A few people have privately voiced fears that on coming back to office I shall go after them. These fears are groundless. There will be no paying off old scores. The past is prologue.

Our neighbours in the Sub-region and our African brethenen should rest assured that Nigeria under our administration will be ready to play any leadership role that Africa expects of it. Here I would like to thank the governments and people of Cameroon, Chad and Niger for committing their armed forces to fight Boko Haram in Nigeria.

I also wish to assure the wider international community of our readiness to cooperate and help to combat threats of cross-border terrorism, sea piracy, refugees and boat people, financial crime, cyber crime, climate change, the spread of communicable diseases and other challenges of the 21st century.
At home we face enormous challenges. Insecurity, pervasive corruption, the hitherto unending and seemingly impossible fuel and power shortages are the immediate concerns. We are going to tackle them head on. Nigerians will not regret that they have entrusted national responsibility to us. We must not succumb to hopelessness and defeatism. We can fix our problems.

In recent times Nigerian leaders appear to have misread our mission. Our founding fathers, Mr Herbert Macauley, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Malam Aminu Kano, Chief J.S. Tarka, Mr Eyo Ita, Chief Denis Osadeby, Chief Ladoke Akintola and their colleagues worked to establish certain standards of governance. They might have differed in their methods or tactics or details, but they were united in establishing a viable and progressive country. Some of their successors behaved like spoilt children breaking everything and bringing disorder to the house.

Furthermore, we as Nigerians must remind ourselves that we are heirs to great civilizations: Shehu Othman Dan fodio’s caliphate, the Kanem Borno Empire, the Oyo Empire, the Benin Empire and King Jaja’s formidable domain. The blood of those great ancestors flow in our veins. What is now required is to build on these legacies, to modernize and uplift Nigeria.

Daunting as the task may be it is by no means insurmountable. There is now a national consensus that our chosen route to national development is democracy. To achieve our objectives we must consciously work the democratic system. The Federal Executive under my watch will not seek to encroach on the duties and functions of the Legislative and Judicial arms of government. The law enforcing authorities will be charged to operate within the Constitution. We shall rebuild and reform the public service to become more effective and more serviceable. We shall charge them to apply themselves with integrity to stabilize the system.

For their part the legislative arm must keep to their brief of making laws, carrying out over-sight functions and doing so expeditiously. The judicial system needs reform to cleanse itself from its immediate past. The country now expects the judiciary to act with dispatch on all cases especially on corruption, serious financial crimes or abuse of office. It is only when the three arms act constitutionally that government will be enabled to serve the country optimally and avoid the confusion all too often bedeviling governance today.

Elsewhere relations between Abuja and the States have to be clarified if we are to serve the country better. Constitutionally there are limits to powers of each of the three tiers of government but that should not mean the Federal Government should fold its arms and close its eyes to what is going on in the states and local governments. Not least the operations of the Local Government Joint Account. While the Federal Government can not interfere in the details of its operations it will ensure that the gross corruption at the local level is checked. As far as the constitution allows me I will try to ensure that there is responsible and accountable governance at all levels of government in the country. For I will not have kept my own trust with the Nigerian people if I allow others abuse theirs under my watch.

However, no matter how well organized the governments of the federation are they can not succeed without the support, understanding and cooperation of labour unions, organized private sector, the press and civil society organizations. I appeal to employers and workers alike to unite in raising productivity so that everybody will have the opportunity to share in increased prosperity. The Nigerian press is the most vibrant in Africa. My appeal to the media today – and this includes the social media – is to exercise its considerable powers with responsibility and patriotism.

My appeal for unity is predicated on the seriousness of the legacy we are getting into. With depleted foreign reserves, falling oil prices, leakages and debts the Nigerian economy is in deep trouble and will require careful management to bring it round and to tackle the immediate challenges confronting us, namely; Boko Haram, the Niger Delta situation, the power shortages and unemployment especially among young people. For the longer term we have to improve the standards of our education. We have to look at the whole field of medicare. We have to upgrade our dilapidated physical infrastructure.

The most immediate is Boko Haram’s insurgency. Progress has been made in recent weeks by our security forces but victory can not be achieved by basing the Command and Control Centre in Abuja. The command centre will be relocated to Maiduguri and remain until Boko Haram is completely subdued. But we can not claim to have defeated Boko Haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by insurgents.

This government will do all it can to rescue them alive. Boko Haram is a typical example of small fires causing large fires. An eccentric and unorthodox preacher with a tiny following was given posthumous fame and following by his extra judicial murder at the hands of the police. Since then through official bungling, negligence, complacency or collusion Boko Haram became a terrifying force taking tens of thousands of lives and capturing several towns and villages covering swathes of Nigerian sovereign territory.

Boko Haram is a mindless, godless group who are as far away from Islam as one can think of. At the end of the hostilities when the group is subdued the Government intends to commission a sociological study to determine its origins, remote and immediate causes of the movement, its sponsors, the international connexions to ensure that measures are taken to prevent a reccurrence of this evil. For now the Armed Forces will be fully charged with prosecuting the fight against Boko haram. We shall overhaul the rules of engagement to avoid human rights violations in operations. We shall improve operational and legal mechanisms so that disciplinary steps are taken against proven human right violations by the Armed Forces.

Boko Haram is not only the security issue bedeviling our country. The spate of kidnappings, armed robberies, herdsmen/farmers clashes, cattle rustlings all help to add to the general air of insecurity in our land. We are going to erect and maintain an efficient, disciplined people – friendly and well – compensated security forces within an over – all security architecture.

The amnesty programme in the Niger Delta is due to end in December, but the Government intends to invest heavily in the projects, and programmes currently in place. I call on the leadership and people in these areas to cooperate with the State and Federal Government in the rehabilitation programmes which will be streamlined and made more effective. As ever, I am ready to listen to grievances of my fellow Nigerians. I extend my hand of fellowship to them so that we can bring peace and build prosperity for our people.

No single cause can be identified to explain Nigerian’s poor economic performance over the years than the power situation. It is a national shame that an economy of 180 million generates only 4,000MW, and distributes even less. Continuous tinkering with the structures of power supply and distribution and close on $20b expanded since 1999 have only brought darkness, frustration, misery, and resignation among Nigerians. We will not allow this to go on. Careful studies are under way during this transition to identify the quickest, safest and most cost-effective way to bring light and relief to Nigerians.

Unemployment, notably youth un-employment features strongly in our Party’s Manifesto. We intend to attack the problem frontally through revival of agriculture, solid minerals mining as well as credits to small and medium size businesses to kick – start these enterprises. We shall quickly examine the best way to revive major industries and accelerate the revival and development of our railways, roads and general infrastructure.

Your Excellencies, My fellow Nigerians I can not recall when Nigeria enjoyed so much goodwill abroad as now. The messages I received from East and West, from powerful and small countries are indicative of international expectations on us. At home the newly elected government is basking in a reservoir of goodwill and high expectations. Nigeria therefore has a window of opportunity to fulfill our long – standing potential of pulling ourselves together and realizing our mission as a great nation.

Our situation somehow reminds one of a passage in Shakespeare’s Julius Ceasar
There is a tide in the affairs of men which,
taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life,
Is bound in shallows and miseries.
We have an opportunity. Let us take it.
Thank you
Muhammadu Buhari

Commander in-chief-of the Armed forces

Lagos to FAAN: stop taxi licensing

Opeifa
                                                                            Opeifa
The Lagos State Government has warned the Federal airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to stop what it calls illegal registeration of taxi and intercity transport operators.
Commissioner for Transportation Kayode Opeifa accused FAAN of rebuffing all entreaties to stop the alleged “illegal act”.
He said: “For the avoidance of doubt and the education of the public, it is only state governments that have the legal and constitutional rights to regulate transportation matters in their domain, a fact that was reiterated and confirmed by several resolutions of the National Council on Transport.
“In this regard, the Ministry of Aviation and FAAN are therefore called upon to retrace their steps from this impunity, discontinue this act and consult the state Ministry of Transportation for proper guidance.”
Opeifa told the operators that no agency except the Ministry of Transportation could regulate their activities.
Operators who flout the regulation would be sanctioned, he said .

Extend Probe Beyond My Administration – Jonathan

Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan, says those calling for the probe of his government should ensure that such probes are extended beyond the Jonathan administration, otherwise it will be seen as witch hunting.
President Jonathan was speaking while presiding over the valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The President pointed out that a number of things have gone wrong including some errors in the allocation of oil wells and oil fields without following the laws.
President Jonathan also decried the recent fuel crisis at the end of his administration, insecurity in the nation and the various strikes since the beginning of his administration, describing them as politically motivated and designed to bring his administration on its knees
He then insisted that he has done well and was pleased to work with members of his cabinet, adding that they were able to navigate the ship of government together.
The President of the most populous country in Africa also promised to interact more with the ministers after leaving office on May 29.

Woman Stabs Son To Death On Children’s Day In Ogun

bloody knife

A young woman, Funmilayo Adeyanju, in a fit of anger hacked her three years old son to death on Children Day, throwing neighbours at the Ogunso area of Otta, Ado-Odo/Otta local government area of Ogun State into shock and mourning.

Adeyanju was said to have returned from somewhere and had barely rested for about 30minutes when she picked up a kitchen knife and attacked the boy.

She allegedly pinned her son called Emmanuel to ground and savagely stabbed him in the chest, abdomen, head and other parts of the body, leaving him to die in a pool of his blood around 4pm on Wednesday.

It is not yet clear what provoked the killing, but many people that are familiar with the circumstance of the mother and child, claimed it may not be unconnected with the trauma of the relationship between the woman and her biological father.

The Nation gathered that the boy is the product of the incestuous between Funmilayo and her father about four years ago.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident, said policemen from Ota Division have arrested the woman while the remains of her slain child have been evacuated to the mortuary.

Adejobi said: “Policemen have been to the scene to recover the body of the child. The woman has been acting strangely like a person who is of unsound mind. The police would carry out proper investigation.

“The police will work on the state of mind of the woman and we’ll have to seek the help of an expert to know her mental state.”

Meet Young Cucumber Farmer Who Makes N2m In Three Months

IN Nigeria, it is unusual to use farming in the same sentence with youths. The grueling crudeness of farm work, man-hour and patience required to harvest the fruits of farming are not just unattractive, they have, over the years, driven young people out of farms and villages.
Instead, the finesse of white-collar affluence, allure of fast-cars and crispness of fast-money, have worked together to present the sky-scraper-saturated cities as the destination for fortunes, opportunities and the good life to the young school leaver.
Running against this trend, Imo State-based agribusinessman, Jasper Chidera Ezirim, in his mid-twenties, has decided to build his wealth on this forgotten cornerstone — agriculture.
Through organic farming, he is leading a revolution in wealth creation, with a resolve to use agriculture as a tool to dislodge Aliko Dangote as the richest black man.
In an interview with The Guardian, recently, Ezirim, who started his agribusiness formally in 2011, said that he wants to prove to fellow youths that agriculture was and still is a goldmine.
He runs a cluster of vegetable farms with 20 staff and consults for smallholder farmers, deploying his expertise and a degree in economics to manage a business he believes is more important to the Nigerian economy than the oil and gas sector.

The love for agriculture runs in his family as both his paternal and maternal parents were farmers. Having been exposed to the practice at a young age, Ezirim proposed to build a life around farming, only he would do so by getting the right information through formal education.
He said: “My paternal grandmother was more of a yam and cassava farmer. She had goats and chickens, too. I spent a lot of time with my grandmothers, especially during school holidays. I think that’s when I began to fall in love with agriculture. I could play with those goats for hours as a kid.
“My maternal grandmother had goats and chickens. She had an orchard beside the house and a vegetable farm at the backyard. She was the type that whenever she visits your place and tastes a good flavour in the food you served her, she could ask for the pepper, tomato and others. She would take the seed home, dry and plant at the backyard. You can practically cook a soup in her house without visiting the market.”
He said as he grew older, he discovered that love and passion was not enough to attain success in agriculture, one needed to appreciate and believe that it can be a profitable and sustainable business, in both short long term basis.
“I think that appreciation came when my dad passed away, and my mum got into full-time agriculture. She was able to open my eyes to its profitability. I saw what I needed to or not do, to make it in agribusiness,” he said.
However, his journey to gain formal education was littered with thorns, as he attended three universities in Nigeria, seeking information that would transform his dreams to reality. After several disappointments in the country, he bagged a degree in economics from a university in Benin Republic.
When asked about the response of his peers and elders, when he decided to go into agriculture, he said it was not too difficult a choice because he was known to be stubborn with decisions, especially ones he is passionate about. He said some people protested. Stressing that his love for agriculture was deep and contagious, he beams with pride that his efforts paid off.
According to him, “It (the choice) was not that difficult, because I never really kept friends. Although, few people that knew really about it wanted to bite me (Laughs). But it was not that difficult. I mean, if you sit down with me for a few minutes, you will want to quit your job and go into agriculture.
“People were skeptical about it, at first, but because I was notoriously stubborn, they didn’t bother talking me out of it. They were 100 per cent sure I won’t listen. So why waste time and energy? I am just happy that my decision has gradually been justified.”
Ezirim works closely with technical partners from Thailand, who, he said, have been instrumental to the success he has recorded. He explained that he deploys their methods in his operations, especially in handling exotic vegetables in his farms, noting that the methods he applies have made it possible to grow exotic vegetables in Eastern Nigeria, a terrain, which many people erroneously believe is unwelcoming to such products.
“A lot of people know me as the ‘Thai farmer’,” he said, jokingly, adding: “I had the opportunity to visit and learn from some Thai farmers, which have given me the privilege to establish a partnership with the Thai Agro Group.
“I practically use Thai technology in my farm and believe in their philosophies, which has been part of the building points that has stabilised their economy as a farming nation. So, it has been a privilege learning and working with the Thais. There has been a common belief among my people in the south that exotic vegetables only grow in the north. I am determined to expose to that as an absolute lie.”
“If done well, this venture produces over 300 per cent Return On Investment (ROI) annually. The major problem has been doing it well, which is using minimum input to get maximum output. That’s where the Thai guys come in. They have trained and equipped me enough for that,” he continued.
He said that, from his experience, making millions as a farmer is easy and can be done in a short time, stressing that all that is needed is, at least, a hectare of land and any of the good vegetables.
On the prospects from his farm, he revealed: “A farm like mine costs about N600,000 per hectare. If one is planting cucumbers, from a hectare, you should make nothing less than N2 million in three months.
That is if it is done right. It has been achieved by a lot of people I have consulted for here in Nigeria. It boils down to understanding what to do.
I and my team, at a time, were able to make a net profit of N1million on cucumber in 2 months planting the cu999 variety sold by Thai Agro. To be honest, it was not an easy task, but we were able to pull it off.”
However, he said a major headache has been the attitude of workers he had to work with, decrying the fact that youths complain about unemployment but cannot deliver on the little responsibilities thrown at them and are lacking in qualities such as faithfulness, commitment, trustworthiness and motivation to work.

Incoming Ministers, Legislators To Receive Up To N9Bn As Perks

House of Representatives senators and the eighth
National Assembly members, as well as ministers
appointed by president-elect Muhammadu Buhari will, on assumption of office, receive up to N9 billion in ‘welcome perks’, Punch reports.

The eighth National Assembly is to be inaugurated by Buhari on June 5, as the tenure of the seventh National Assembly expires on the same date. The eighth National Assembly will comprise 109 senatorial and 360 members of the House of Representatives seats.

The Revenue mobilisation, allocation and fiscal commission prescribes a number of non-regular allowances to the political office-holders. Among them are the housing allowance (received once a year by every incoming office-holder), the furniture allowance (received once in four years), and motor vehicle loan (received once in a tenure). These are paid at the beginning of the tenure.

Housing allowance is 200% of the annual salary of a
political office-holder, furniture is 300%, and motor vehicle loan is 400%.

Punch reporters gathered that each senator will receive N4,052,800 as housing allowance yearly. One hundred and seven senators of 109 will be collectively receiving N433,649,600m as housing allowance, while senate president and deputy senate president are not entitled to this allowance as they are fully provided for by the federal government.

Each member of the House of Representatives will be paid N3, 970,425 as housing allowance, with all 358 representatives collecting a total of N1,421,412,150 as housing allowance, excluding the speaker and deputy speaker.

For covering furnishing costs, each of the senators is to get N6,079,200, except for the senate president and his deputy; 107 senators will get a total of N650,474,400 as furniture allowance.

Each member of the House of Representatives will be paid N5,955,637 as furniture allowance, with 358 representatives collecting a total of N2,132,118,225.

Each of the senators is entitled to N8,105,600 motor vehicle loan, while each representative is entitled to N7, 940,850. This means that 107 senators will collect N867,299,200, and 358 representatives N2, 842,824,479 for the same purpose. Since, according to the RMAFC, this allowance payable once in four years is a loan, it is indicated that it is repayable.

President-elect Buhari might shrink his cabinet; however, each state of the federation must be represented in the cabinet, and this leaves Buhari with at least 36 ministers (as opposed to 42 in President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.)

Cumulatively, the ministers are to receive a total of
N140,945,760 as housing allowance, N218,851,200 as
furniture allowance (N6,079,200each), N281,891,520 as vehicle loan (N7, 830,320 each).

The housing, furniture and vehicle allowances payable to the lawmakers and ministers will amount to about N7.3bn.
Up to N1.7bn will cater for other perks of office such as motor vehicle maintenance, fuelling, personal assistants, domestic staff, entertainment, utilities, newspapers and periodicals, wardrobe, house maintenance, constituency.

Special assistants, security and legislative aides are paid directly by the government. Medical expenses are also provided for by the government.

Special advisers and special assistants to the president are also entitled to housing and furniture allowances, special allowances and motor vehicle loan. It is not certain yet how many of them Buhari is going to appoint. The housing allowance of a special adviser is N3, 885,750; furniture – N5, 828,625; motor vehicle loan N7, 771,500.

Severance allowance is paid to each office-holder at the end of their tenure. According to Punch, the
outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice-President Namadi Sambo, non-returning federal lawmakers, ministers and aides to the president are to collect N3.24bn as severance allowance
